Vista Caller ID consists of the following components:

  • Vista Caller ID Server
    (version 3.3.0, 23-01-2010, 751 KB)
    Install this application on the PC that is connected to your telephone line and that acts as the Vista Caller ID server.
    NOTE: You can install this application on any PC running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows Server.
     
  • Vista Caller ID Client for Windows 7/Vista Media Center
    (version 3.3.0, 23-01-2010, 890 KB)
    Install this application on the PC that runs Windows 7/Vista's Media Center application.
    NOTE: You can install this application on PC's running Windows 7 or Windows Vista (Home Premium or Ultimate editions) only!
     
  • Vista Caller ID Client for Windows 7/Vista
    (version 3.3.0, 23-01-2010, 483 KB)
    Install this application on any other PC that runs Windows 7/Vista and that is to receive notifications of incoming telephone calls.
    NOTE: You can install this application on any PC running Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP.


NOTE:
All components of Vista Caller ID run on both 32-bits (x86) and 64 bits (x64) versions of Windows.
The Vista Caller ID Client for Windows 7/Vista Media Center also runs on Media Center extenders.

Release notes

Version 3.3.0

  • The server application now runs as a Windows Service. The main advantage is that no longer someone needs to be logged on to the PC to start it; it is started automatically as soon as the PC is started.
  • The communication between the client applications and the server application was made more robust.
  • The graphics were beautified.

Version 3.2.0

  • The Media Center client can now be used on Windows 7 as well as Windows Vista.
  • All components now run on both 32-bits and 64-bits versions of Windows.
  • In the Server application an option was added that can be used to specify whether your TAPI telephony device is intended for voice or data communications.

Version 3.1.0

  • The most important change is that anoymous calls are now handled and shown correctly.

Version 3.0.0

  • The most important change is that the call log is no longer stored on each of the clients; it is now stored on the server.
    The advantage is that you see the same call log on every computer and that single call log is as complete as possible.
  • The client for Windows was expanded with a screen to show the call log.
  • The Server application was expanded so that it can also use Microsoft Exchange to lookup names and pictures of the people who call you.

NOTE:
Version 3.0.0 of Vista Caller ID is no longer backward compatible with earlier versions.
So, if you install this new version on your server, you will also have to update each of your clients to version 3.0.0!

  • A page was added to show detailed information about phone calls you received.
  • The list of phone calls now scrolls smoothly.
